Just like anyone else, I love a good movie or television show. I've spent many a rainy or snowy day enjoying a good "binge." But there have also been times when I've had to make an effort to get out of that comfort zone and pursue other things ... spiritually, I mean.
Here's an example: One day a couple of winters ago, we were in the middle of a good old "nor'easter" ... heavy snow with blizzard and white-out conditions. My dog was restless, she loved the snow, and I knew she wouldn't mind it a bit. The last thing I wanted to do was put my book down, get off my cozy couch, and walk out into that storm. But I love my dog and she needed to get moving. So I spent a good half hour just putting layers of clothing on. If we were going to walk, I was not going to be cold! Then out into the blustery day we went. As we walked down the road, there wasn't another person or vehicle in sight. It was so devoid of manmade sounds that all I could hear was the softness of the snow falling and the low howling of the wind. The world was WHITE and silent, and it was beautiful! I thought, "Wow ... I should do this more often!" I wouldn't in a million years have gotten off my couch to go out into a blizzard if it wasn't for my pal, JoneZ ... and I'm so glad that I did!
So you have a choice every day ... what's important to you? You don't evolve by watching Netflix, not much anyway. If you insist on the couch, try a YouTube video about Jesus, reincarnation, mindful living, SOUL. Beyond that, get outside. Take a walk and enjoy your surroundings, do some yard work, or simply sit quietly and listen to the sounds of nature. God didn't build houses, but He did create Mother Earth. When you're outside, it's so much easier to get in tune with His presence.
It's just like school, you know, one big lifelong classroom. So no matter what "grade" you're in, study and move on to the next grade. First, and most important, make a conscious decision to pursue your spirituality. Then, even if it's just small steps, do a little more or something a little different each day. Read. Listen to podcasts. Get out of your comfort zone! Do the "work." And you WILL see changes and empowerment. What you put into it is what you'll get out of it. The greater you pursue it, the greater your desire becomes; and the more you do, the more you will WANT TO DO.
